Kalighat temple to open its doors for devotees on 1st July

1. Kalighat Temple to reopen from 1st July for devotees

2. Only 10 devotees will be allowed inside the temple at a time

3. No devotee will be allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum to offer prayers


Kolkata: Kolkata's Kalighat Temple is all set to open its doors for devotees from July 1st. However, the temple administration has decided only 10 devotees will be allowed inside the temple at a time owing to the space constraint. In a meeting last evening, the Kalighat Temple Administration has decided no devotee will be permitted in the sanctum sanctorum or 'Garba Griha' where the Kali idol resides



However, devotees can offer their prayers from 'Dhol mancha' outside. Temple authorities have also revised the timing of the temple, it will now be open from 6 AM to noon and from 4 PM to 7 PM every day. No prasad, sindoor application or 'charanamrit' will be allowed inside the temple. The authorities have asked the Kalighat Police, a stone's throw away from the temple to crowd control the devotees who arrive
